Lead Software Development Engineer in Test

£45,000 - £55,000 – Bristol

About the role

We are looking for a Lead Software Development Engineer in Test to join our growing team. You will be responsible for ensuring the platform and all our labs are reliable, fully functional and user-friendly before they are released to the public.

Experience & Responsibilities

  • Building, customising, deploying, and managing the environment/test automation frameworks
  • Building robust, scalable, and high quality test automation solutions for functional, regression and performance testing
  • Verifying product scalability, reliability, consistency, and performance
  • Managing testing activities end to end, with full autonomy in a proactive way
  • Partner with developers to improve and automate test and release processes
  • To lead a small team of software development engineers in test
  • Prepare test data and test estimates
  • Working closely with the development team to feedback on findings
  • To be an active and influential member of the Scrum team
  • Extensive experience of setting up a test automation framework (Selenium, Appium, Cypress etc.)
  • Have a thorough understanding of QA principles, test framework, automation tools and techniques and have solid experience in a similar role
  • Strong technical skills with at least one Object Oriented Language (e.g. Ruby or Java etc.)
  • RESTful API Testing and Automation
  • Experience with distributed source control (Git)
  • Extensive experience of BDD Methodologies
  • Experience in at least one Behavior Driven Test Framework e.g. Cucumber
  • Experience in Agile work practices
  • Experience of leading teams
  • Experience of creating test scenarios and acceptance tests against user stories
  • Excellent communication and team-working skills
  • Demonstrate a positive can-do attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure, organise and prioritise responsibilities
